I'm enjoying the ting tings. They're simple pop music and I kind of like how there's a bit of mystery to the band, a White Stripes thing kind of going on.
I am a sucker for 2 piece bands though.

Right now I'm listening to The Jesus Lizard again. I've only just been able to finally appreciate "Down" and now I've ordered "Goat" which i'm a little excited about.

I'm not sure how big they are here BUT every time I watch some commercial music tv show (ie. Video Hits or those other shows on Saturday mornings) they seem to be on it. They make me want to strangle myself.

Oh tell me about it. My need for needing something different took me straight to Crystal Castles, Pets With Pets, Test Icicles, DFA79 and Refused.

not the same genre... but DFA 1979 makes A LOT of noise for just a 2 piece.
same as Big Business.

I should check Big Business out. DFA79's bass lines are what hooked me. I hated them at first. I also hated At The Drive-In at first too... they're now in my top 2 favourite bands of all time list.

I really wish I'd had the chance to see At The Drive-In. One of my all time favourite bands but they were together when I was young and poor, thus unable to buy a ticket.
I'm not arsed about Mars Volta. I've never really been able to get into anything of theirs sinse the first album. I've seen Sparta though and they were pretty sweet.

I can though boast about seeing DFA 1979. ****ing awesome band and it still saddens me to think they're no longer together.

Who's this Big Business then?

At The Drive-In would've been brilliant. They didn't play Perth when they were out here for the Big Day Out (just before they broke up) so I didn't get to see them. DFA1979 didn't play Perth either. All my Melbourne friends still talk about that night they saw DFA1979. It ****s me.

Sparta were pretty tight when I saw them. I don't like them though.. And TMV were brilliant (I mean, how can you not like the band live when they have all the exciting aspects that ATD-I had) but I don't really like them either. I think this has more to do with personal things than with their actual music.

I quite like Foals to but I'm only going from their singles. Repetiveness I think is something that isn't used in music enough but it can really create some haunting and awkward pop hooks, as the Foals proove in my opinion.

It's this 2 piece band from LA. They do A LOT of shows with the Melvins. They kind of have the same sound in a way... check them out on myspace.

The coolest thing i've heard this weekend was the new Zack De La Rocha from Rage Against The Machine project ..  it's called One Day As A Lion.. WOW! this ep is awesome!
He is playing with Jon Theodore(drummer) who played with the Mars Volta. look that up as well.
