LEGENDS OF THE UNDERGROUND: Family Butcher, a hard-core punk band from Indio, is the headliner. Fateful Day, the fatter, drunker, faster band from Syracuse, now based in Palm Desert, is the opening act.
But the special guest for the evening is Mondo Generator, featuring Nick Oliveri, the bad boy of Queens of the Stone Age and an original member of Kyuss, the progenitors of stoner rock.
Mondo Generator, taken from a Kyuss song of that name, was Oliveri's side project before he parted company with Josh Homme in QOTSA. Now it has a cult following of QOTSA fans that preferred Oliveri's intensity.
This show should be a reunion for veterans of the generator party scene of the 1990s.
Family Butcher, with Mondo Generator and Fateful Day, 10 p.m., The Red Barn, 73290 Highway 111, Palm Desert. $5. 346-0191
