Yeah, I know this forum is kinda dead, but just for those who might still rock up every now and then, some information from Impedance Reecords here in Australia about what Nick's up to.
1. Mondo Generator to re-issue 'Cocaine Rodeo' In 1997, Nick Oliveri together with Josh Homme and Brant Bjork formed Mondo Generator and the album recorded at this time was 'Cocaine Rodeo'. As Nick and Josh got increasingly busy with Queens Of The Stone Age, the album didn't see a release until 2000. When it was released it received critical acclaim and the fact their was an unofficial Kyuss reunion on the release(John Garcia provides some vocals to one of the tracks) caused plenty of excitement among fans of that now legendary band. Since its release, QOTSA continued to rise but Nick still found time to put out another album in 2003. Following his departure from QOTSA in 2004, Mondo Generator became the priority of Nick Oliveri and 'Dead Planet' was released by the band in 2006 (in Australia by Impedance Records in 2007). With the debut album out of print for a few years and some bonus recordings from the session still laying around, Nick decided it was time to get it back out there again. He asked if we wanted to release it, we said yes let's do it, so in June we are pleased to announce that 'Cocaine Rodeo' will be re-issued via Impedance Records with new artwork, extra tracks and bonus live disc.
2. Nick Oliveri solo album is on the way You may know him as the long haired bass player on the early Kyuss albums or as the mysterious Rex Everything in The Dwarves. Others will know him as one of the creative partners behind Queens Of The Stone Age and more recently the screaming front man of Mondo Generator. He is of course, Nick Oliveri. A man that really needs no introduction to rock fans across the world. Throughout his career with the aforementioned bands, Nick has found time to play intimate, solo acoustic shows. Just him and his acoustic guitar, occasionally with some guests for a song or two. Blending songs he has written for the bands he has played in, specifically written songs for the solo shows and well chosen covers, Nick has showcased what a great songwriter and musician he is. We are excited to announce that over the last six months, Nick has been recording tracks in this form and they have now come together to make up his new solo album 'Death Acoustic'. The album is set for release mid year, we'll keep you updated on an exact release date.
